Put Your Bonus To Good Use At Year’s End
It’s December, prime time for end-of-year appeals from charitable organizations.
If you’re looking for opportunities to put your annual bonus to good use, there are plenty to be found that would be more than willing to take your charity. You’ll be glad you gave a year-end gift to help society’s least fortunate.
If you are lucky enough to be employed, have a little sympathy for the jobless and homeless by helping organizations that assist them in getting back on their feet.
The following are a few to consider giving your money to.
Founded in 1994, the New York City-based Center for Employment Opportunities, Inc., provides immediate employment opportunities and support to men and women who’ve recently served criminal convictions.
The center offers job readiness training, paid temp work, job placement services for non-subsidized jobs, post-placement support to keep participants in the employment market. For more info, see ceoworks.org.
Established in 1987, the DOE fund, also based in New York City, helps a similar demographic of formerly incarcerated persons in addition to the homeless to become self-sufficient economically.
Its mission is “to develop and implement cost-effective, holistic programs that meet the needs of a diverse population working to break the cycles of homelessness, addiction and criminal recidivism,” according to its website. For more info, see: doe.org.
