Travel Channel’s Bourdain To Dive The Friendly Skies For Charity
Travel Channel TV personality, chef and no-holds-barred author Anthony Bourdain recently agreed to take to the skies to raise money for the Food Bank For New York City, which provides hunger relief and aims to end poverty for needy area residents.
For a mere $10,000, Gilt City, the luxury gift website, gave thrill-seekers the opportunity to cross off a bucket list item in style with the star of the Travel Channel’s No Reservations during a day of skydiving.
The opportunity also included breaking bread with Bourdain, the man who had raw seal eye ball on national television, at Hiram’s, a restaurant in Fort Lee, New Jersey that most definitely doesn’t serve oddities that the Travel Channel star has sampled.
Bourdain, the former head chef of Manhattan’s Brassierie Les Halles who rose to literary fame with his behind-the-scenes tell-all “Kitchen Confidential, possesses a biting wit that can be nothing but entertaining over a good meal.
“Anyone who’s watched his Travel Channel show knows that for Anthony Bourdain, the sky’s the limit. And when you get the chance to meet him, you’ll fall right out of the sky,” stated the Gilt City website.
More than three million and rising New Yorkers can’t afford daily bread at a time when food donations are at their lowest ever. So, it’s great news to hear that the item sold out.
In addition to this offering, Gilt City has a few other opportunities with celebrity chefs still available to benefit the Food Bank. For more info, check out: www.giltcity.com/newyork/collection/foodbanknyc.
